Yoga Myths

  • You need to be flexible - incorrect. You meet yourself where you are & be consistent, teachers adapt for all levels

  • Yoga is stretching - Yoga is a mindful combination of meditation, pranayama and practicing flexibility in mind, body, soul.

  • Stretching muscles - Incorrect. You are actually stretching your fascia which is a cell membrane that runs from your toes to your head through your muscles.

  • Yoga is for women - yoga was actually designed for the male structure, the hip bone in men is narrower which is why those with wider hips need a wider stance.

  • Yoga is a religion/cult - incorrect. Yoga is a spiritual practice without ego or labels, it is pure awareness.

  • Yoga isn't a workout - incorrect. Pranayama opens your lungs for deeper breathing, allowing oxygen to flow deeper through your body; Meditation brings you to present moment awareness; Asanas create flexibility in your mind, body, spirit.

Quick tip: Yoga helps move energy and fluids through the body especially when in inverted asanas (head below heart).

Have a beautiful & abundant week ahead.

Namaste.
